I will be tying the knot next Saturday and what's a better gift to my best man than a selfbow. This bow is made of ash with rosewood overlays. It is 48# @ 64". I went with a little bit of a pyramid limb design. It shoots so sweet with a little over 1" of set. I left 3 growth rings on the back of the handle to add character and handle comfort. I hope he likes it!
The knife that I added in the one picture is my first attempt at a forging from an old Nicholson file. It finished at about 58 on the Rockwell scale. The handle is made of hickory and rosewood. It was a fun experience and hopefully I can gut a deer with it this year!

That is a cool gift set. Your finish work is excellent. Well done.
-
Very nice, great tiller on the bow and the knife...its as good ss the bow! Your friend should be proud of both.... I would >:D
-
Very nice looking stuff. I really like the feel of that bulbous handle style, and the growth rings make it look awesome too.
-
That looks great! I know I'd be stoked to get that as a gift.
-
Very well done. And the knife does not look like a 1st attempt it looks just as well crafted as the bow. He ought to be happy as a kid on Christmas morning. I sure would be.
-
He should be happy to recieve that set, goodlooking kit!
-
Congratulations! Wishin y'all much love and happiness. That is a fine gift. Your best man ought to be proud of that. Your finish work is outstanding. Fine bow.
-
Fine set :) I gave my best man a bow too, great gift.

First off, this bowyer is marrying my daughter, so I am a bit biased, but the bow is very smooth on release and an accurate shooter. In addition, Joe's attention to detail is outstanding as demonstrated here. Great job Joey, I look forward to making plenty of shavings together in the future.
-
Thanks everyone for the complements! I just gave it to him and he was thrilled! The expression on his face was priceless. And thanks Tim. I hope to make a few more knives soon.
-
Thanks RPS3. I'm lucky to have you as a teacher.! And we will be making shavings for a long time
-
That's a great bow and i love that knife.

Great looking bow, a hell of a best man set :)

Beautiful all around, and as others have said, those rings on the handle are wild! Also, great knife too, hidden tang?
-
HAHAHA! Blackhawk, yes, i am a resident of 2 minutes down the street. And that was supposed to say 64" long and 48# @28". Im surprised your the only one who called me out on that one. Yes, that is a hidden tang on the knife. And thanks everyone, the handle is my favorite part on the bow also.

Nice job on the bow and the knife! That's going to be one happy best man!
