I want to make a kids bow for a girl 12 years old :)
I have a hickory 42" long, and a black locust maybe 50"ish
I need handle layout, width, length and thickness and limb width
lb. and draw length for most kids
and what would the brace height be approximately 8 or 10 stands B 50 ??? ??? ??? ???
or a link to a how to
did i leave anything out???????

this will work but a lot of kids that age cant draw 20#, 3" handle 1" fades, use the longer stave 1 3/8" wide at the fades to start straight taper to 1/2" tips, it's gonna be thin I've built a lot of kids bows and they do get thin so if you think it's getting to thin side tiller, bub

Very true. But she probably is only going to draw 17" or so.

I love making kid bows. I just made a couple, one for an 11 yr old boy. He is drawing 24#@20", but my 9 yr old daughter is drawing 16#@19". I guess it all depend s on the kid's ability, experience, and so many other factors. 20#@20" is a good place to start.
Don't forget to post some pics when done, we'd love to see it.

If the link dont work ... wich it may not as im doi g this off my phone ... just go to youtube and search " mulberry selbow " or making a selfbow ... " making a self bow " is the actuall tittle of the video . It has several parts and is a good build along . For a kids bow . And this ole boy is good . I really hope i have helped uou friend
