Title: Texas Bluewood for bowwood???

Anyone ever use "Bluewood" to make a bow its everywhere where i live..it has thorns and blackberries ..is evergreen..thinking i will give it a shot..just wanted to know from someone that has used it..wild texas tree.

Condalia Hookeri.  It is a Rahmnaceae.  Buckthorn.  Some guys have been making some nice Buckthorn bows farther north of us.  Different variety I believe, but sure worth a try.  Most around here are far to small and twisted to get much use from that I see.

If you're in Texas you should be able to find some juniper or mesquite pretty easily

Oh yeah juniper and mesquite everywhere..bit the bluewood is growing yall and straight about 4" to 6# od at the trunk and 7' to 8' before branching..gotta give it a shot..it calls to me.  O:)

If it is a cousin to the Buckthorn I've seen folks posting around the site, it'd sound like one that needs tried!

I tried to do one at Somerville lake ..Gus was ready. Me and Gus and crickets noone else seemed interested.

Well lets plan a gtg i have access to one of the parks around the lake, already have the ideal spot picked out was just waiting for interest , could start wrkn on it , in the club or primitive shoot page.
