Title: Wanna seal an ELB with tru oil, but I don't wanna seal the horn nocks...

...So I am thinking I am just gonna masking tape off the nocks, and throw a coat on or two and see how it goes. The only thing I am worried about is the finish building up near the tape? Or sealing over the tape, and than pulling some of the finish off with the tape later? Arg...

Very little TruOil will soak into the horn, most of it will just wipe off.  What does stick will just close up very small pores and voids. Shouldn't be a problem at all.

You could buff the horn after each coat with very fine steel wool.  You will remove anything that doesn't soak in.
