Got some HHB from a friend in Michigan. Thank you.
First time working with this wood.
58" NtN, #55@26", 1 3/16 @ handle, 1 1/2" mid limb and tapering to 3/4" tips. Has a deflex spot just above handle.
Tempered the belly.
Paint is simple black tips w/red stripe [earth paints].
Fast and snappy. I'm liking this HHB.

Gotta agree with the others, you got a perfect bend on that bow Don. Any pics of the front profile ? I'm in the midst of working one of the same dimensions from buckthorn now and have it to brace and drawing 17" now. Thinking I should maybe send it to you before I tiller a hinge into it trying to take it out to 26". You got the tillering touch. :)

That's a beautiful tiller on that bow. Great job on it Don

Thanks for the comments all.

This isn't a very good picture but I hope it helps. And I've made my share of fire wood. LOL

Looks good Don, thanks.

Doesn't get better then that for a D-tiller. HHB is such a great wood but you rarely hear about it. Is it rare?
-
Nice and simple design, looks like a good shooter!

Nice

There's good tillers and better tillers. That's a better one. Sweet.

Very nice bend!

Don, Very nice bow. I'm curious about what you used as a binder in the earth pigment? Closer look at the tips would be nice. Again, Very appealing bow there.
-
Great tiller Don! Steve, hhb is everywhere round me here in Mo... I thought it was rare at first tell i found out what it looks like, lol... It usually grows close in the shadow of a big hickory or oak here... Brian

Nice bow Don.That HHB or ironwood we call here is all across central Iowa.I've got some laying on the rack seasoning I need to get to one of these days.I'm sure I'll like it.

That's a fine looking bow. Perfect tiller.
-
Great tiller Don! Well done Sir! Josh

Thanks for the complements fellas.
Greg DeJames - I've use different things for binder in the past, this time I just used a matte fluid medium. And that's just because it was close.
-
Spot on bend you have there Don...I mean dead nuts on
-
Nice job on that tiller. I just cut some HHB today and got 10 stave out of it.
