Title: First BL shorty!
Post by: huisme on July 26, 2013, 06:07:11 pm
42" tip to tip

21/2 inch limbs

13/4 inch bendy handle

No backing, self knocks.

11/2 inches of set just unstrung after shooting.

65~70# at 21", tillered to 25" for safety.

Some character reflex/deflex cave me trouble during tillering, but no compression fractures in this black locust  ;D It was originally an accident while I was splitting bellies, but I decided it wasn't the end for the stave. Then I noticed a looong crack in a little over half the stave, so I decided that it was going to be a shortie instead of a 3" wide recurve experiment.

Mullet: yeah, I was worried at twenty inches that it was going to pop, but all that happened was the set. I think I just got lucky with a magic stave  ;D

JonW: I'm working on that, but as of yet I haven't a photographer.
