Title: Osage stave has borers?????

My stave im letting season I just noticed now has some lil bugs boring in it straight down, any one else had this expierence  and is it big trouble?

The rotten bugs bore so deep on mine I've had a hard time chasing one ring on the stave. >:(

Get the drawknife out asap and start peeling until your past em all....

Break out your propane torch and scorch the holes, a few seconds and the bugs are dead.

I did the same to the billet piece in the picture. I torched them as soon as I saw yellow dust. When i made a bow out of the piece later the holes were shallow, about 3/8".
