So i didnt want to hijack Iowa's post so here is my untreated chert point next to a found point, neither is "perfect" and the found one sounds and looks heat treated, i know they are different styles, just wanted some feedback, i used two tools only for my point.

Im still workin on this point, if all goes well i will be a happy ABO knapper, my point was done with a small shaping stone, antler flaker, and a pad i made, ok the pad aint exactly ABO , but that goes away next, by the way, i have never really used copper except once. I do not use Ishi sticks at all.

I assume the found one is the one on the right? Nice!
Are you trying to match the flake pattern of the real one? Looks like you did good with a tough piece of stone. Some of that raw stuff is murder on tools.
-
Not trying to match the found one at all, just a thinness comparison, thinning is the part thats frustrating me, but im gonna get it.

+1
I can't thin. I just can't with my steel tools. I can take flakes up to about 35 degrees from the plane of the point. Thats it.

Yeah, thinning. It's a lot like trying to loose weight. No matter what you do, you end up fat. >:D

As i understand it, takes about a yr to get fairly decent, i hope im ahead of the curve, cause a full yr with nothing good to show for it will be, lets just say, i dont need the extra pile of rubble...lol

Thank ya sir,too stupid or stubborn to quit anything... ;D
