I'm just gonna throw this out there, you can get dowel rods from Lowes and any hardware store and you can sand them down to specifications.

Dowels will work, but the spine is all over the map, and in IMHO, don't fly very well. Dowels that I've used tend to be very stiffly spined.

I've got a dozen Douglas fir shafts, 60-65#, tapered I'd part with for some skins. What kinda skins? Oh, each one of the shafts are signed J W Halverson. You'd have to cover or take it off unless you just wanted to poach with them.

HEY!

I still wish those shafts would have worked out for me.  I hand straightened them at least a half dozen times and had 'em pretty straight.

LOL, someone put this dog in his crate, he ain't huntin' so good tonite!

If you can deal with the stiffer shafts that Mullet has, you should go for it.  They just didn't work with any bow I had at the time.  They are full length, straightened, painted with a black/white/black cresting with my signature on the white section.  I planned on having a humdinger of a set of arrows, but best laid plans of mice and men...

Oh, and they are triple dipped in gasket lacquer with a gloss finish.

My osage meat gitter is gonna handle em ,went through some test arrows it tested out 60-65 oughtta be a good match. Like the gasket sealer touch ,, should have the right,,,, bounce?  Lol
