Title: Tree ID

This tree is at my moms house.  Anyone know what kind it is?  I'm hoping its good bow wood :)

The leaves look like hickory to me but I'm not 100% on that

I'd say a chesnut or something similar.

Chestnut.
Not bow worthy IMHO. Leave it for the nuts in autumn.

Definitely a chestnut thanks to the blooms.  Based on the leaves I lean toward a Chinese chestnut.  The leaf margin for Chinese chestnuts are toothed but not deeply.  American chestnut leaf margins look more like a saw blade.  Besides the tree seems not to be affected by the blight.  While some large Am. Chestnuts do exist it is more likely this is an Asian relative that is less susceptible to the blight.

Back it if you use it for bow wood or leave it for the wildlife as Dark soul suggested.

Thanks guys I will leave it.  I had no clue what it was I havent seen any trees like that before.

The flowers are the givaway. I'd say Chinese also. There are very few American chesnuts but there are some. I saw one in full bloom off of the Blue Ridge Parkway a few years ago.
