Title: making a redoak warbow

i found at the local home depot a railing or something shaped like a U and i was thinking if i back it with something how heavy could i get it? could i back oak with oak ? as they already have thin sheets 1/4" thick or so i could use as a backing but could i break 100#@28" safely? i'd prefer 110#

Of course you can back oak with oak. That is basically an oak selfbow... However, an oak stave will always be stronger than an oak (even if backed with oak) board.
A draw weight in excess of 100# is doable, but will need an 'overbuilt' design with red oak.

Toast the belly good BEFORE you glue.
you might want a SLIGHTLY rounded belly. Also make it wide... 2 inches or so.
Make it long with narrow tips.
