yeah, i found a dieing fox by the road, except i thought it was dead. im not sure if you know this but i stuff dead animals (wierd hobby i know [and don't worry i don't go round killing animals for there fur] ) anyway so i go to pick up this fox and it had just enough energy to bite my trouser leg and rip it! but it then went unconcious so i stuffed it in an old rucksack and ran home and HUMANLY dispatched it. don't worry it is legal and im doing all the paper work, and it didn't acctualy bite my leg so i won't get rabies or anything like that. im now just a little shaken...
-
Despite the fact that I'm being sucked into this conversation like a moth to a light, it's weird how this discussion just came up after your last post regarding dead foxes and the uses for them.
I'm sure there is no corellation though to this coincidence. ::) That and your camera is probably broken. >:D
-
well i see roadkill alot mostly birds and foxes, which is why i made that other thread, because i see them so often. i probably see about 3-4 each week! although this is the first "live" one i have found.
-
*sigh*
Pics, or it didn't happen. Nobody believes a word you say without proof. Others get the benefit of the doubt, but you lost that with all your other lies. In fact, even if you posted pics people would still not believe you unless there was proof within the picture that it was actually you.
You aren't exactly inspiring anybody to take you seriously again with this kind of post.
-
sounds to me like another squirrely sack of ----. and furthermore I would like to know your definition of humanely dispatching. I sure hope you're not being cruel !
-
*sigh*
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but your one word Slackbunny, says a thousand words to me!
-
ok maybe attacked was to strong of a word to use. ill try and get a pic of me with the ripped trouser leg. i know this looks like another chapter in the book "tale of the squirrely fib" (not a real book) but i stoped doing that because i was burning to many birdges wich i am still trying to rebuild. especialy after that misunderstanding with the "yew", if you still don't wan't to belive me the thats up to you.
ATM fox is in the freezer. i will skin it after my exams (15th july)

SS seems to have rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. This is a note to them.
There is a setting available on this type of forum host which allows members to put names of other members on an "ignore list".
You see a notification that the user has posted but not the actual contents, unless you select the option to "show post". It can be quite useful and it goes a long way to help keep the blood pressure down ;) :D

 I had a strong hunch before opening this that it was you SS. I also thought that maybe you'd been attacked by all the other kids in the neighborhood. Well I was half right!!
-
this post is believable. sometimes people get over excited and escalate the story a bit. I feel that our young squirrel is learning to be proper in this forum. Some may agree, some may not. either way hes not being oblivious to everything said to him.
-
We have a lot of foxes around here, lots of roads,I saw 1 in 25 years KIA on the road. Thats all I have to say about that.
-
Believable, but it smells squirrely

This kid makes me laugh ;D

You're right, the story is believable. But the storyteller is not.
-
if he says it happened its no big deal to me, im not going to have a heart attack if hes telling the truth or not.
-
This kid makes me laugh ;D
maybe i should write the book: tale of the squirrely fib? would anyone be intrested in a copy? SS
-
Rabies doesn't die with the animal. The virus can live along time in saliva which would typically be slathered all over the animal. Seek help!!! That would be my advise to anyone 'else' with such an encounter.
To you, SEEK HELP!
Robby
-
You can only catch rabies if you ACTUALLY get bitten.
I honestly can't decide if i want this to be true or not. I kinda hope it's a lie, because the thought of somebody "stuffing" a living animal into an old rucksack and running home to kill it makes me pretty damn angry. I'm all for animals being used for products if they're dead or in some cases even hunted as long as they're not endangered or on the way to becoming so, but this.... No. If its true, somebody should stop him before he actually manages to make a bow that works.
-
When I shook it free it went unconscious. It would have died anyway and I humanly dispatched it and stopped it suffering. And I wouldn't use a bow to kill an animal because it's illegal in the UK. SS

SS An immagination is a horrible thing to waist and you clearly have one. When it is used to try and fool the mentality of other good folk it is at it's worst waist. To write a book takes a lot of skill you need to capture elements with in the story like mood, site, smells, weather, sounds and etc. etc. But one of the greatest gifts you lad do have (an immagination). A good place to start would be reading other adventure stories, to get a feel of how other great writers capture the elements to make the reader feel like their there. A good one that comes to mind is My Side of The Mountain. You may side toward a little humor which would make McManus some good reading. What I'm saying is be honest with others and put your immagination to good use. Write the book Lad.

thank's for the info and great advice, i was only joking about acctually writing that book. i could never write a book. i don't even use capital letters and don't even get me started on my spellping. if in the future when i have more adventures and storys to tell and when my grammer has increased then ill think about it. but again thanks for the help. Honestly, I havent read a single word beyond the title..........ohhh to be a moderator one day....
-
SS is never going to gain or keep any credibility here. He lies and then embellishes lies with more lies. He thinks it is amusing. He thinks he will make friends. He thinks he is clever and witty. He thinks cruelty to a fictional fox is cute and worth bragging about.
-
I have to agree with you Pearl..... Maybe one day!

You guys might be being a bit harsh. I used to lie all the time when i was younger. But I've changed. So, that said, he could be changing. I think being exposed to the community its hard at first when your young. But its doing him good. Ill admit, there has been a lot that he has done that wasn't right. however, if your only thought when you see his post is "its going to be a load of rubbish" then it will be, not because that's what it is but that's what you want it to be. If hes lying then he is, if hes not then hes not. I am not sure why people get upset because of someone else's issues. now, that being said, Squirrel Slayer needs to build credibility, so squirrely, you may want to refrain from retelling your adventures until you've built some bows, and are taking peoples advice on a regular basis. You want to start getting in the habit of watering down your adventures until you are believable, also, try putting the title in regular letters because TEXT LIKE THIS GETS ON PEOPLES NERVES! so for your title something like Close Encounter, would have been a good choice of words and its only capitalized rather that all caps, draws in a few more eyes without being excessive, I mean think of it this way, when you make a post I know because its the only one that is caps on the page lol. just my thoughts so you can improve you quality of life on this forum and make amends with some of the others. If they don't accept you and your trying to improve then 1) be understanding, because you've done this it will take a while. 2) those people are stuck in their ways...(no offence to you guys but honestly if you look closely hes been improving and is not as unbelievable now.) 3) if you take my advice and your improve your rep on the forum you will gain help and support as you progress.
So to summarize, i think although this mostly is SS's problem there is some overall aggressiveness towards him which can be hard for someone to get anybody to stop that until they either die or instantly become a better person and have like a new track record of never lying... bit harsh since were all human just some of us are at a more honest stage than others.
Not trying to piss anyone off, just want to see peace on both sides of the line. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
-
I don't think it's OK to lie ever.
-
your absolutely right alb, im not condoning lying, but i am supporting rehabilitation from lying, if no one is supportive then he wont feel there is any reason to change. lying is often a human trait, and as such we should correct it and iron it out of someone rather than beating it out, you don't get the wrinkles out of a pair of pants by beating it, but rather by ironing it. Suppose he makes an attempt to be perfectly honest, but then everybody condemns him, do you think that's helpful? so hes become a branded liar by the community and cant change? Its important not to jump to conclusions, if a story is believable and the person behind it isn't always then you should first analyze if it would make sense that this might have happened. for this instance look at this. 1) he does have fox skins from foxes and posted one in the trade forum 2) he stated in that post that he collects road kill 3) he comes here and makes a post stating that he found one that was dying and dispatched it 4)his pant leg was bitten by the fox(perfectly believable even from a liar although pix would be nice) 5) he even admits that he shouldn't have used the word attack because it seems a bit extreme.
His track record to me seems to be more one of an excited kid who exaggerates some when he posts titles or stories because to him it seemed more exciting. There are the times when hes lied and are not acceptable, but even some of the most hard core liars tell some truth.
Also, to SS make sure to post pics of the event as it happens to build credibility, by vid taping your event you have proof to back you up, but remember, always follow whats legal, and preferably don't show yourself killing the fox because that's a bit more that some would prefer to see.
Life is a learning process, hopefully hes learning and will heed peoples advice.
Also, in no way am i trying to make someone mad or to irritated or frustrate anybody, once again, I'm trying to help both sides of the equation so both can be happy, if everybody is mad at SS and hes frustrated because everybody is mad at him then its just getting worse by the second. Like i said, none of SS's past uncalled for posts are being condoned, just attempting to expose the root of the problem so everybody can be happy and go back to having fun. You might have noticed that hes not posting stuff in the wrong place anymore, he doesn't beg like crazy for things, hes a bit misguided when it comes to knowing what wood is and needs to be careful when he posts trades and such. If i was his age i would have probably made most of the same mistakes, so its part of being 15 and not always knowing what you need to know, but i would have also learned from this community as i already have.
-
being young isn't n excuse, but it's getting lots of play with certain guys on here you learn more by lisenin and asking ? than expounding on exploits no one believes and givig advice on subjects hat most of us KNOW you don't know what your talking about, listen, read, research and LEARN, and when you get some advice don't argue pick the advice you think will be best and try it out
-
i agree bub. I feel that those who are not well formed should learn from those who are. that said it takes time to go from immature to mature. it doesn't happen over night, its hard to change suborn ways when that's what you've been used to for most of your life. not an excuse, just one reason it may be taking him a bit of time to adjust his maturity to the level we expect.
-
Iconic, you are being very charitable. But this kid has deeper issues that just telling a few fibs. He lies, is called out, and embellishes his lies greater lies, all the while knowing those who read his comments know he is telling untruths.
I was taught very young not to lie. Perhaps his parents and peers just don't care, or he has a compulsion to lie online only. But whatever is going on, it is highly disrespectful to this community, and if he is assumed to be a liar even if he is actually telling the truth, that is his big fat problem that he brought on himself.
Probably he has never had to pay a price for his lies, but that day will come sooner or later. And, the PA community's role should not be therapist or rehabilitation. I can't think of a more honorable or honest group of people than primitive archers. That makes his cavalier lies that much worse.

What is really funny is he does this to get a response, and we all know it, and yet ya have all the stoned face Mr. Serious gents on here that just get a big weggie in their undies when he does it. And then ya have older guys arguing back and forth about what's right and what's wrong about over what squirrleyboy started. SO I just sit back and take it for what it's worth, and I laugh my ass off at the rest of yunzs. Just like he does I'm sure:)

I'm pretty much there with ya at this point, Roy. I just hope he doesn't actually convince someone to ship something overseas to him. That's the only thing he does that really irks me, begging people to ship him stuff.

I would beg to differ. From the looks of nearly every topic you have started, your caps lock is on and your exclamation key gets stuck when ya use it.

Too true Roy. Like I said earlier, it's like a moth drawn to the light. We have to read it. Reminds me of the Pavlov dog experiment with the bell. Sometimes I wonder if this kid might be some 40 year old guy from some high tech hunting forum just killing himself laughing with his buddies having a few beers and laughs at our expense.
No hard feelings Squirrel. I'm actually hoping you'll stick around long enough to post a pic from this bow course,( whether real or imaginary) That you'll be taking. Maybe bring some of that yew, I mean, cherry, Oooops...pine, and see what you can make.
-
Alright, well I've been nice, now I'm going to stay out of conversations like these for a while because I'm exhausted and I want to remain on the side of pleasant with others.
-
He just wants attention. Probably dosent get any at home. Just my opinon.
I agree with you, I have always thought this was the case. I figure he is a young man that get little or no attention at home, and no male role model in his life.
-
No doubt in my mind that if SS humbles himself enough he will find plenty of male role models here that are willing to put forth an effort to improve his quality of life. I wished that more people like those on here would have been around to help guide and shape my future when I was growing up although I was so stubborn and hard headed that I don't know if I could have taken advantage of the situation.
We didn't have an internet in the 50's and 60's but I was fortunate enough to find people that really cared. I'd say without help I'm one of those who could easily have been lost.
-
I look at things like this. For a young man to visit a Traditional Archery site on a regular basis, like he does, tell me he has a passion to build his own bow. Tells me he could be doing a lot worse things in his young life. Tells me he is OK in my book. Yes he sometimes comes across in a way that pisses a few folks off, however I don't feel he should be burnt at the cross / keyboard either. Sometimes a few encouraging words, words of advice, words of direction, will yield a far better product, than trashing a young man.
-
This is too funny ;D
-
I just think the majority of the people on this bow site would just like to see him show us something besides "talk". Build a bow, maybe? ???
-
yep i think you got it right mullet if he'd just make a bow and post pics or even just post pics of a roughed out stave or a knife or something he'd definitely raise up a notch or two in most peoples eyes.
-
Well I have to say I agree with most of what's been said by Ionic and others. And squirrelly you should pay attention to whats said. All kids screw up and lie and need guidance from time to time, and no it's not anyone's job on here to raise the kid or give him attention nor is it anyone's job to give advice on bows or congratulations on a bow or an achievement, but we do because it is a community of like minded individuals and at our core we all want to share and have attention and be heard. With that being said, we all have a choice to read and respond or not. If you don't like what the kids saying or doing ignore it. Why concern ourselves with the choices of others. Or worse yet stoop to a juvenile level of bashing or name calling.
-
I'm with Eddie. I'd say he could gain a lot of credibility back by just finishing a bow... until then I'll just continue to occasionally chuckle and roll my eyeballs. ::)
-
I can't believe the little squirrel has received over 1000 views! I've never had that many on any of my posts in the past.

Whether or not you were actually bitten, doesn't mean you can't contract Rabies, as it is a virus. There have been cases of cave explorers, (Spelunkers) who have contracted rabies, from breathing in the virus, from the bats that were in the caves. Well I believe you. But, I don't know you, so that could be somewhat of an influence on my taking you at your word. ::) ;)

Where ya at SimpleSquirrel? I been trying to stick up for ya son.
Let me guess. A UFO landed in your back yard when ya was shooting. All these green eyed critters jumped out and zapped ya with a space gun. But you had on your anti space gun suit and it didn't phase ya. But you was stunned and fell down and rolled and next thing ya know you were falling down this 2 mile sink hole and when ya hit the bottom there was all these crazy foxes that started licking your face. And then ya woke up and realized you had a dream about getting bit / attacked by a fox. I got this right so far?
