a buddy of mine from southern california sent me some rocks from his land.
he has made pigments from them and thought i would enjoy trying myself.
of course these need to be ground much finer, need to find a mortar and pestle.
the colors are amazing have numerous other reds, yellows and oranges along with one dark brown.
he also sent a chunk of asphaltum to try.

are you referring to what medium i would use with these pigments to attempt to stain bone?
if so, that is a good question and not really sure to be honest.
maybe water with vinegar? let it soak till the bone takes on color?
i typically use coffee or walnut ink to stain bone. the walnut ink is really darker than i prefer.
the coffee or tea makes a nice "natural" sort of aged color
