Here is my latest bow. It is an Osage Orange american flatbow with some character.
It is 67" ntn, 55# @ 28".
The stave was generously gifted by Steve b. Thanks again!
The tips are from a piece of maple burl that Dan K gave to me. I'm quite pleased with how they turned out. That's where the bow got it's name, the top tip looks a little like a crown.
The finish is 7 coats of tru-oil polished down with steel wool and pumice powder.
The string is 12 strands of Fastflight.
The photo's were done by my friend Bodeene of Bodeene Berrevoets' Photography.
Thanks for looking.

That is a very beautiful bow. Well done.
-
this bow is truely stunning. If it were mine i would find it hard to put it down let alone give it to anybody. If you do give it to someone it must take a lot to be willing to give it up.
-
Very nice Weylin - GREAT name ! Bob
-
Is that the one you wanted me to try and break ;)
That's a good hard hitting bow! Out done yourself once again bud!
-
That is beautiful! I love those tips! An the pictures are great too!
-
Looks good but doesn't it make you sick to shoot it? 8)
-
I liek that grip Weylin, cool.
-
Very nicely done. I like the handle too. Jawge

That's a beauty Weylin. Tips, grip, finish and character all seem to just flow together in that bow. Your friend did some great photos
also.
-
Classy classic :D :)
-
Very nice work Weylin. Yep, the handle is sweet.
-
Pretty nice piece of sage! Looks like a molar crown on the one tip. Nice job!

I guess it's Ok... :) ;)
-
Very nice Weylin! Beautiful bow and the grip looks awesome :)
-
Nice bow! Looks like the bottom limb is a little weak and the top could bend a little more out of the fades up to that natural whoop-de-do. Could be everything is just fine as those whoop-de-doos tend to make tillering look a bit off.
-
Man, I need a better photographer. Nice bow.
-
Well done. That burl is cool and I really like you handle and lace work. Danny

I think that upper limb fade area is bending more than it appears in the full draw pic. Check out the unbraced pic again.
Thanks for sharing the nice pics Weylin. Beautiful work all around.

Great looking bow man!
-
Nice!! Love that handle and tips. I think I'm gonna fire my photographer and get a new one!! Can you fire yourself?? ???
-
That bow sure turned out well Weyin. And the photos show case the bow nicely. Well done!
-
Very nice bow! Handles and tips look great!!
-
Like the use of the Natural materials. 8)

Beautiful bow, I THINK the problem with the full draw pics is your knocking point seems way to high on the string which is giving a illusion of tiller being off. I shoot three under, and when I draw it looks slightly off even to myself in a pic, but on a tree dead on! Nice bow!

Thank you, everyone for the kind words, it always means a lot coming from this crowd.
Bryce, yes this is the bow I let you try and break. ;) I'm glad you like how it shoots.
Steve, Thankfully that was an isolated incident. :-\ Oh, and thanks for the stave!
@ Eric, Carson and Brian, I think Brian is right that my nock point is too high. I'm a lefty and was pulling this bow right handed and everything about it felt funny. I'm sure there were a few things I was doing wrong, form wise. I can see what you're looking at when you say that, Eric but I think the combination of the character in the wood, the angle of the shot and the high nock point are contributing to the photo looking a bit off. In all of the other situations that I've agonized over this tiller by myself and with other bowyers it has come out looking and feeling just right.

A beauty, very nice work esp. on the details. Well done.
-
i like everything about it. well done
-
Very nice bow, handle, tips the whole package :)
-
Thanks! :D
-
I thought I'd throw this other full draw photo in to give a better perspective of the tiller. I think my nock height is more appropriate on this shot, though maybe still a little high.

Think your right, it's still high gues about a 1/4 inch.....anyway it shows the tiller much better! good job! :)
-
I don't see how it could be better. Has no set, no handshock, shoots good, and looks good.
-
Very beautiful bow
-
Very nice job, love the finish work. :)

Sweet looking bow! I like the handle wrap. I have been meaning to lace one up like that but just lacked the inspiration. Problem solved. Thanks.
-
Thanks again for the kind words!
Dvs, go for it. It's not very hard to do. :)

Absolutely Beautiful. The total package, including the photos, is gorgeous. Nice work!
-
Wow! I don't know how I missed this one. That's a fine piece of work to be sure! The tips are certainly unique. I have to ask, what is the significance of the bird? Josh
-
Thanks, Dave!
Thank you, Josh. I was trying not to make a big deal about it here because it's not really what this site's about but I've started selling some bows using the name Swiftwood bows. The swift bird is kinda my logo/signature. I've got to figure out a better way to get them on my bows because that one took me at least an hour and involved a fair bit of foul language.
-
That's cool! Just a thought, but you might consider having a little branding stamp made up. Josh
-
Great job it is a very nice bow and the grip is sweet.
-
Yeah, Josh. I did a little research into custom brands. They seemed to start around $100 which I'm sure is reasonable for the work that's put into them but not really in my budget right now. Though if i start adding up all the time I take drawing those damn birds on there I'll probably get to $100 pretty quick. :o
Old Timber Bows, thanks for the compliment!
-
That's an awesome looking bow!! Excellent job ;)
