Post by: Squirrelslayer on March 01, 2013, 04:50:56 pm
ok i know im probaly way too inexperienced to even think about making a horn bow, but looking at examples it seems there made from just horn and sinew. i was just wondering where do you get a peice of horn that shape or do you join 2 together? if so how? surley there would be a weak point in the middle/handle area. like i said im way to in experienced to even think about making one but i was just curious on how there made? If you are seriously interested in a horn bow, you must start by doing some of your own research first. It's so easy to immediately start asking questions online.
It's OK to start thinking about it (yup, you're waaaayyy too inexperienced still), but asking 'how do you build a horn bow?' straight away is quite another.

I've seen some videos on YouTube that showed the construction process.  Do some searching and see what comes up.

If you're really serious Adam Karpowicz's book is an excellent investment. Very detailed instruction with some great photos:

Iv'e been making bows for over 10 years and just started researching horn bows recently.  years of trouble shooting and making choices will aid your efforts on a horn bow.  More to em and more to the learning.
