I think the wave threw me but this is what I got.
My bow is 54# @ 25inches
62 "tip to tip
There is 12" of non working limb at the ends
Kinda wierd tillering fade to mid limb with character.
This was practice for the tough one coming up. Its not the best but should take a deer.
The unbraced photo was taken just after tiller and has not returned yet.

Forgot this shot

Wow Iowa! Great job with a real tough stave. Love "The Wave"
-
Holy cow, talk about character! :o
That looks phenomenal, iowabow. My only question is how that could be practice for the tough one, I would probably have made firewood with that.
-
Looks like it would be better off flipped over so that the wave is the less stressed limb. The way your heel of the hand is collapsing forward seems like it would suit the other way as well.
-
Now if that ain't a character bow I don't know what is. Sweet! I had a beautifully done elm Holmegaard that I bought last year off a guy and sold like a dummy before I realized what a nice bow I had, as I didn't know much about selfbows a the time. One of my favorite designs and looks like you made a super cool one.

Thanks for the advice I think the string favors that as well.

It looks like I should retake that full draw picture. I dont think I have my hands in the right place.
-
Cool character holmy .....untwist that string some and nock your brace height down a tad too...I like doing full draw shots with an arrow...that way I know exactly where to place my hand and how far to draw
-
Thanks blackhawk! I will retake those in a couple of hours. Thanks for the help...I am kinda a flint guy not a bow guy so much.
-
A good lookin piece of wave man, I had one of those and it can really take some time going "Ok....I think this side looks good, but flip the whole thing.....yeah this side looks like it could use a few....." etc...good job man, it'll shoot!

very cool

That one looks like it is turning out fine, Iowa, particularly with that "wave". ;)
-
Oh, that wiggle in the limbs looks wicked! Very nice bow you made.
-
I think it looks cool with the wiggle up thanks Pat M

You nailed it buddy! It was fun watching this thing take shape this morning! So much easier to tell someone where to remove wood and let them do all the work. ;D
So is this gonna be your elk bow?

Hey thank you! Scott for making the time to tiller check over the phone with me! It was a nail biter for the last 4 ". Always good to have an extra set of eyes on it. Not sure if it is going to Co. or not but could be if it handles the summer of shooting it in.
-
Nice work on that stave. Those humps and bumps are a pain to tiller around. Looks like you tamed them into a nice even tiller.
-
For not being a "bow guy so much" you did an amazing job! Could fool anybody! What a nice bow!

I dont make bow often because I have to wear a respirator will working the wood and suffer for two weeks afterwards. I try to do all my bow making in late winter so the mask is not too hot. It really blows to be so allergic.
-
Oh man that sucks. Sorry to hear it. Well for not getting to make bows much you are really good at it.

Thank you I learned a lot by going to the classic and working with Pat B , Gary Davis, jeff, Shawn, and a few others really improved my bow making.
-
I like it better that way....so hows it shoot?

It shot much better. There was no hand shock and it pulled smooth.
-
That looks like a better fit.
-
Sweet looking bend on that one! Great work.
-
That a boy John.......That's a keeper for sure. That'll thump a deer right to your dinner table.Nice job.Glad it worked out for ya.
-
A lot of personality in that bow. Like it a lot.
-
Awesome, extremely difficult tiller and you nailed it bud ;)
-
Looks like you pulled off a challenging one there. Nice work.
-
You have made a beauty!
-
Sweet bow John! You done that wood justice :)
-

Oh my John! That's impressive! That wave would of driven me nuts to tiller. Nice work! I suspect that was well worth the suffering. Josh
