For those of you that do a lot of heat bending, what kind/brand of heat gun do you use? I have to get another one, and what to get one that will last with out breaking the bank?
-
I use a Blue Point from SnapOn tools, pretty high but we use them a lot so have to have good ones, around $ 100.00.

I just bought a porter cable from Lowe's and I like it so far. Two fan speeds and variable heat dial from 200 to 1500 degrees. I think it was $40
-
I use a wagner from home depot, I think it was 40 or 50 bucks. I used to buy the cheap ones at harber freight but they never lasted very long and it was pretty frustrating to have one of em quit right in the middle of a project.
-
I have a 2 stage yellow Wagner that has run for countless hours. I may have spent $25 on it?
-
Think I have the same one as you Pearl, thought mine was under $20, but it was definitely the cheapest one there. Has run for hundreds of hours as well without problems.
-
Just stay away from the mega cheapys and wont have to replace it every year.
-
I've got the Same one as the duck, Porter cable. $40.00 from Lowes. You can adjust the fan speed Hi/Low and the temperature.
-
I have a 15 year old Ace Hardware Dual temperature heat gun. I use it a lot and any time I think that I may want to get a new one, I can't justify it to myself, because its still working.
Old Timber buys the Harbor Freight version. He get's the extra warranty and gets a new one everytime it burns out. He goes through about 2-3/year of the HF version.
-
Walmart Wagner for me. Been going strong for at least 5 years now.
-
Wagner 1400 watt, have had it 20 years and works fine.
Charlie I have an extra heat gun and was gonna send it to ya, until ya called me an old fart in that pm a minute ago. :)
-
i haven't done a ton of heat bending but am doing it more and more now. i have a chicago electric brand from harbor freight, been working well.
-
Well thank you Roy. But I will have heated, bent, shaped, and curved a lot of bows probably before you old geeser could even remember where you put it >:D
-
Lots of WATT and a good warranty.
Then when it blows and it will you can take it back and get another. My gun was about £15 and a no-brand make.
-
OH Charlie, ya did take that smarty pants pill this morning huh? LOL
-
I was looking to replace my HF with something better, but HF had them on sale for under $8.00.
I'll upgrade next time ;D
