Title: glue on broad heads?
Post by: kevinsmith5 on February 12, 2013, 09:31:50 pm
I've been looking at different brands and models of two blade glue on broadheads and was wondering if anyone had any experiences with different brands and styles. I'm mostly seeing Zwickey and Magnus advertised.

I love Magnus 1's!!! STOS are great too. Zwicky's have killed 1000's of critters too. Don't forget the old bear greenies. As long as they're razor sharp and put in the right place they all work. It boils down to personal preference.

I have used zwickys and they work great. They are simple and hold an edge good. They are cheap compared to many others but will take a direct hit to a tree. The hard part is getting it out of the tree with out breaking the shaft.

Back in the day I used ZWICKYS for a dozzen years. I had one head I kiled 5 bucks with before I shot over top of a yote and lost it. Pirty mildly tempered so there easy to sharpen quickly. I only file sharpen mine and I had a lot of pass throughs. I have no complaints what so ever.

Fred Bear used Zwickeys before head made his own Bear head. Bear also had Zwickey make him heads back in the day.  I stumbled on to one of the Zwickey for Bear heads that my dad had in his collection of heads.

With that being said I use Zwickey two blade. They are easy to sharpen and round the point off getting rid of the sharp tip.
Also any 4 bladed heads that I have, I grind the bleeders off.  Two blade is much easier to sharpen.

Thats of course when I am not using stone heads.!!!

I use Zwickeys and Ace 2blades, they fly really good. Also have some Fred Bear heads just don't use the bleeder blades. you would not believe the hole the Ace head makes. BDan

I've ordered a half dozen Zwickey 2 blade Eskimos 125 grain (that's the weight field point I'm using). I haven't seen these Ace heads, where do you get them?

The Ace heads, I see them at some of the shoots I go to. They are at the Tennessee Classic, Cloverdale and I think 3Rivers carries them in their catalog.      B Dan

They all work if they are sharp. I know its a generic answer, but its true. I dont remember how many different heads Ive killed deer with? Maybe a dozen or so?

I will say Zwickeys seem to sharpen quickly with just a bastard.

I can say that the Magnus flys well. No reports on penetration yet
