Title: I did a search but can't find an answer
Post by: mattbowen on January 24, 2013, 09:46:59 am
What I am wondering is if backing a bow with Naugahyde (Vinyl), the reason I am asking is because I found some that I had and forgot about and instead of having to buy something if I don't need it I could keep peace in the house just a little longer.

Thanks in advance

I don't see why it wouldn't work, heck some folks back their bows with brown paper from bags.

You can back a bow with naugahide but I doubt it would give you any advantage and would add lots of extra physical weight.
Paper is made with wood fibers"felted" together making it pretty strong on its own but way stronger when combined with the glue.

Matt, I did this with vinyl.  It has a fabric backing.

Steve Thanks, that is the same color and type as the vinyl that I have just a different pattern and that looks nice.

Thanks again

Steve:  That is real nice.

Mattbowen:  Though I've never done it, there are some posts that I recall were last year about using paper grocery sacks.

Matt Thanks for replying, I have read some of those also, but suffering from Old Timers I didn't think about paper being made out of wood fiber and adding a little more streangth to the bow. Thanks again
