Hopping someone could tell me a little about this arrowhead. Its about 2" long.
It was found by my sister along the bank of the Mississippi river in western wi.
I would like to know what kind of stone it is. Also what tribe and type of point it is.

It's a corner notch expanding stem. My expertise is southwest-california and the great basin so I cant tell you much more about yours. This type further west is no older than about 1500 yo and most are smaller and used on arrows not darts. This is probably only about a inch right? The bow came into use in that area about ad 500. Study into it and you can find out for yourself.

Looks kinda like Keokuk but I'm not 100% sure, as to the type I have no clue.

Looking through Overstreet, based on shape and size, your point resembles an Epps (3500-2000 YO) or one form of Kay Blade (1000-600 YO). I won't hazard a guess as to what kind of stone, though Burlington wouldn't surprise me. The Overstreet Arrowhead guide, especially a used one isn't real expensive (I think I paid $4 for my 7th edition and it's like new.) and with it you can pretty well narrow down what kind of point you have.

Glad you got it Pappy . THANKS Eddie. And thanks to the others for the info. I've had the point on a shelf for a few months and have been wondering about it. Its cool to think someone made it so long ago. Never imagining it being looked at so far in the future. Especially looking at it in different parts of the of the world at the same time via internet. ;D

At 2" long it's probably an Apple Creek. Late Woodland period. Dart point. I would guess Burlington chert, heat treated. Looks like it has a ding on the left barb but other than that it's in great condition. Many tribes used this type of point or styles similar to this.

Thanks. Very informative. Still using the coyote quiver all the time by the way. People at some shoots only recognize me if I'm using it ;D
