These two staves are one in the same. One is the top and one is the belly split of the same stave, thanks Chickenhawk for the stave. One is roughed out way oversize and the other left full width. They are 64-66" long and all of 2 1/2" wide. No "weakness'" besides the obvious.
What would you do with them?
-
Send one to me ;D
-
Somebody with my skills would have to use em for stickball or something. :-[
I'm sure you will perform miracles with them, though, Pearly!!
-
Well, what I likely would do is craft a highly over built tomato stake, ...but what I'd like to do is entirely other and involves making bits of Port Arthur Cedar ZING through the sky at outrageous speeds led by razor sharp Burlington and trailed by Ozark Turkey plumage. (...I'm nothing if not a dreamer!)

There are soooo many options though. Two bows, one bow, one bow joined several ways and so on. I cant decide and have been staring at the stave since May.....its killing me.
Brycey boy you ruined those chances bad mouthing the King earlier today. Dont think I didnt see that Mister. You had the King #6 or #7? Some crazy A number anyway.
-
You know I know the right answer, but I'm not gonna say it,and I bet its awhile before someone sees it and mentions it. >:D
-
could you make another take down with a whole in both limbs?
-
how about a true center shot bow
-
As good a candidate as there is to make some kind of center shot self bow. If the hole is in the handle, how big a bow could you get outa them?
-
I see a couple nice walking sticks in those! ;D
If I don't see an arrow go through those holes I might be a little disapointed. :'(
-
More great thoughts. All of them have been bouncing around for months. The hole is off center by about 4", coincidentally?
-
i still say two hole take-down.it would be awesome
-
either a hole in each limb or a center-shot bow. Those are the only two really awesome choices. Plus, if its the king then it should be epic, make it happen!
-
Reminds me of Will H's Honey Hole.

Winner winner chicken dinner Steve..lol...I thought it would be a lil longer before someone saw it
-
Stevey the two hole t/d has beem most prominent, I cant lie. Its looks pretty cool in my mind's eye.
Whats this "if its the king" crap muffin? You must be on ryoons side or something........

Haha but it was still on the list
-
Reminds me of Will H's Honey Hole.
.......but TWICE as cool as Will's bow.......heck he gave me the billets, said they where too much for him.
-
P.s. working on some Osage this very minute. Don't let that list fool yah ;)
I'm just a lazy bow maker haha
-
i have held Wills bow in my own two hands.it is very cool.now i want to see yours Pearly.you don't have to make it a take down.splice it and make a one piece.a take down would be cool though.
-
Heck when I get done Im gonna win BOW, thats "Bow of the World" for those of you not familiar with it.....nobody will care about BOY anymore....
-
Man o man that is one heck of a problem you got there! I think putting two massive holes in one takedown would be pretty awesome. Of course shooting through one of the holes would be pretty darn cool as well... Tough choice... Either way I can't wait to see it :)
-
you go boy.i'll be the judge.send it to me and i will critique it.
-
PD, how about a bendy handle pyramid about 54" ntn on the short one, and a eifel tower molly with super thin levers about 60" ntn, bub
-
should a read the 2nd pg before i posted, hell i was thinkin' what i'd build, and i'm to cheap to not try and get two bows out of it, Bub
-
Idk if its possible but why not split that wide one and make two seperate bows that are mirror images of eachother.
-

I already did that. I was able to get only one to split clean, the other not so much. I ended up with 3 staves from one.
-
why not splice it so that you can the holes are on both the top and bottom of the handle and tiller it to allow shooting out of both holes?
-
A two-hole, center-shot Penobscot.
-
Post some full draw pics.
-
Lets see em pearly. :D
Cipriano
-
I would probably make 2 bows. Any way you go should be cool. :)
Pappy
-
Center shot penobscot >:D
-
Penebscot? Are those the goofy two-bow looking thing?
-
i would cut the limbs off above and below the knot, splice it and make a shorty
-
I'd go the two bows rout.
But if I were gonna invest both staves in one bow (Cenote Dos) then I would vote for a Splice over a Takedown... :)
Either way, this should be good.

Gus if I wasnt sitting on so much osage I would really try to squeeze out what I can. Im fortunate in the fact I have plenty of the junk wood laying around to use up. So rather than quanity Im leaning towards one very unique bow. I agree splice over t/d. These staves are board flat so cutting in a splice will be gravy on your taters. And I have JUST enough URAC left to do it right.
-
I hear ya P.D.
As I'm not currently floating in "Da King", I don't have that problem... :)

I've changed my mind. Put the holes close to the limb tips and see if it whistles when you shoot it!
-
Ryan I dont think I could hear the whistle over my teeth chattering! I think I settled on a double knot hole bow. Now I need to decide where to put the knots so I can still get decent length limbs, and not a TON of hand shock with misplaced weight.
-
"Two-holed Molly" just sounds dirty, ...but I kinda like the idea for some reason. >:D
