I fell and hurt myself MONDAY THE 12 TH. Saw a fokie let pass. Our rifle second came in the 19 th. I was going to take my son BRIER but he had the flue for a couple days. I knew I could'nt draw my bow at a target but likey could at a buck.
I set up at my favoret rut bottle neck. I heard a buck chaseing a doe before first light. Then I saw 2 small bucks chasing a doe but just barely light enough to tell what they were. A FEW SECONDS LATER a buck moveing right along ,really dark but he looked like a 3 1/2 at first glance. I was now or never. I knew I hit him I waited a hour. While waiting I saw a brute 10 point 60 yards. FROM THE AMOUNT OF BLOOD I KNEW IT WAS A HEART DHOT. 80 yards father I FOUND HIM. perrty small no matter how much I looked at him he's 2 1/2 ,8 point been nice in a year or 2.(http://)

Where the POTOMAC RIVER WV,MD . line. Our 2 1/2's uselly go 130 to 140 #'s. I don't trophy hunt but do only shoot 3 1/2's on the farms I manage. WE DO GET 140'S ,150'S put like everywhere there few and far between. our adverge 3 1/2's bucks 1n the 120's.
HERE'S MY SELF BOW MOUNTS AND SKULLS. tHE BUCK IN THE CORNER IS MY BIGEST STONE POINT KILL. The bear skulls and the 16 beards are also selfbow kills.[img][img]

Sounds like a great place to hunt. The heaviest buck I harvested in Texas field dressed at 130 and that was a heavy deer.
I can't see the other pics, but will look maņana in a pc. I think any animal taken with a self bow is a trophy, but a turkey.. That's just over the top :D

He was the 20 th buck I saw in 21 days of bow hunting.(I let 8 ,1 1/2's and 2 1/2's forkies and 6 's walk.) I saw the 21 bucks in 21 days bow hunting. I saw a nice 5 1/2 ,10 point about 60 yards that morning while waiting a hour to take up the blood trail. I grunted him closer but he circled and got down wind 30 yards . I heard him leave in the leaves.
I've been really hurt from a fall bow hunting on the 12th that morning. But could'nt stand it any longer and when WED. morning but only saw 6 doe's walking back the 1/2 mile to my house. It have to been a nice one for me to even try to pull my bow.
Our rifle season stays into till tomorrow so I'm taking my youngest son BRIER (12) TO TRY FOR HIS FIRST DEER. We went last SAT. Just hunting fields from the truck. We saw 18 doe's he shot 5 times and has'nt hit one yet. My fault they were all 250 ,300 yards. He really doe's shoot OK but I told him in the morning it 100 yards or closer.
My luck he'll see and kill a nice one. There's 5 shooters 4 1/2 to 6 1/2 all in the 130's. And thier was a 6 1/2 12 point 7 1/2 this year but hav'nt see him since this summer out in the beams.
I hope to be able to hunt our second rut. MID DEC.

Congrats! I hope number 40 brings you somethings special, though I'm sure each one has felt great in its own regard. Still looking for my first kill... :embarassed:

Very nice buck, congrats and nice shot. What kind of bow were you using?
-
It's a 64" OSAGE 61# @26" It's a old bow I built and retiresd15 years ago. I still use it as a back up now and then.
