im working on my first bamboo arrows, when you plug an end for an arrow head how deep do you need to go?

When I plugged cane I would go at least 1", maybe longer on the point end if I was hafting the points. I no longer plug cane arrows and haven't found a reason to do so anymore. I do use real sinew to wrap self nocks and hafted points.

Pat?  When you half a trade point on your cane arrows, and not plugging them, doesn't that leave a big hole or void on the end of the arrow?  Or do you fill that with something else, like pitch glue?

Charlie, with a good coating of pitch glue the void in the shaft is filled. This hill cane has thicker walls and not much center hole anyway. I even taper the shaft before cutting the slot and hafting the point.
