Title: Anybody know anything about steam bending hickory?
Post by: toomanyknots on November 10, 2012, 08:37:27 pm
Just wondering, I have a board I will be turning into a mild recurve sometime in the future, and was wondering how hickory took to steam bending.

I have done both and fine and if you're doing a sharp bend boiling / steaming works better in my experience ;)

Steam and hickory work great together. Ive never had much luck bendin sharp curves with dry heat on hickory.

I agree with Okie. All I use any more on Hickory is steam.
