Title: need birch bark
Post by: james parker on November 06, 2012, 02:21:16 pm
wanted, some fresh birch bark,, looking to trade for some,, i need enough for several horn bows, the bark needs to be from younger trees, or limbs,, 4-6 inch diameter,, no holes, knots, or  bad spots,or tears, the pcs  need to be at least a foot to foot and a half long,, but the most important quality is the bark needs to be removed from a fresh tree or limbs,, so i can seperate the layers down to a single layer,, if you can help it would be great,, ive got lots to trade.james

I have access to a lot of Birch bark.  I was wondering why you want it from younger trees?

younger trees would have more supple bark right? i would imagine that as the tree grows it begins to have more brittle bark. Just my thoughts

Afraid not.  I've harvested a lot of Birch bark and it's elasticity has more to do with the tree than its size.
