Uhmm, I messed up and gave you the wrong stave. I'm gonna need that back >:D Thad my friend, you nailed it dude. Absolutely stunning in every way. That is as classy as it gets and I already know how well it shoots. The tiller is perfect and the finish is exquisite! Well done, well done indeed! Josh
-
Looks like you have some jeleous observers :P
-
sweet soy great bend on that one, Bub
-
clean tiller, nice contrast of the wood - a really fine bow!
criticism you asked for: a little, I would not make the shelf so large (but thats only my oppinion)
simson
-
thats a beauty of a bow well done.
-
Thanks guys ;)
Simson...it is a little large but it is for a new to the style shooter the arrow lets go clean and it fits the hand right in the border, could have done with a little less frount to back though ....just trying to get em hooked thank you for the feed back I appreciate it!
I forget to mention it is my second south paw...dose it ever get easier to do things on the opposite side of what you arewould used to???
-
Now that is a beauty.Sweet bow and love the finish work also. :)
Pappy
-
Sweet soy...but when ya gonna stop playing with that "junk" wood and use some "real" wood..ehemm..osage
-
All these amazing sapwood backed bows about at the minute when the use of the particular sapwoods is frowned upon.
Great stuff.
Fine bow.
-
Nice looking bow.
Rob
-
Oh yeah!! Real nice!! Looks even better cause it's a lefty!! ;)
-
Sweet soy...but when ya gonna stop playing with that "junk" wood and use some "real" wood..ehemm..osage
Man oh man! Talk about leaving yourself wide open! There are a lot of easy comebacks for that statement! Like,"when your good, you don't have to use security blanket Osage to make a good bow" or maybe " anybody can make a good bow from the best wood, only the best can make a good bow from any wood" or how about....... just kidding Chris! >:D. The devil made me say it, sorry. O:) lol! Josh
-
Lol josh...you know I left that big ole hook n worm out for for someone like you to bite...lmao
-
That is a beautiful bow with a beautiful tiller! Well done. Jawge
-
Thats a fine bow Soy. Nicely done in execution and finish, really pleasing to the eye. On a side note I've done half a dozen black walnut
selfbows, unbacked with sapwood left on, no problems with walnut sapwood. Yours is excellent man, well done.
Greg
-
Cool bow. Those skins look good on the wide limbs.
-
Looking good, man. Very nicely done.
-
that's very impressive. If i may ask , whats the width at the fades and tips? I broke the only walnut bow i ever attempted but have several flawless bw logs drying in the barn and you have inspired me.
-
Mr hawk ...just waiting for the good stuff to dry >:D and i cant stop with the walnut until I'm satisfied I know how to make a bow with it, this is the first time I've used any that was not the Dead standing...
badly ...it was really cool looking without the backing on it but the new owner wanted skin so I figured why not put the insurance policy on it... it's too bad because it was really fetching without it ;)
doc....dont be spreading rumors that I know what I'm doing... it would be misleading :-[
Hammerstone...2" At the fades tapering to just under half inch at the tips
Thanks all for looking :D
-
Yeah it's too bad walnut isn't quite as resiliant as osage, cuz it sure makes a pretty bow!
-
good looking bow!
-
That is a good looking bow in every way. I have also made a few lefty's for others, and shooting it in is the hardest part for me.
-
Beautiful, Walnut is one of my favorite woods, didn't know it could be use for a bow!
-
Wow great bow! Makes me want some walnut, that looks real nice!
-
Thanks again :D i was looking at the pics and noticed I forgot to put string silencers on it >:( ... just when you think you're done ;)
-
soy i'm a lefty so most of the bows i make are bass akwards to me, i just shoot'em im southpaw before i get all the finnish on, Bub
-
I do the same ... however if I am center shot on the southpaw side it tends to make for interesting Arrow flight ... that being said me shooting left handed tends to really make the arrow fly goofy ;D
-
Nice work, I hear mixed reviews of BW.
-
Thanks 60... As far as walnut goes Like most woods it has its ups and downs More prone for Set and not as fast as some but it draws and shoots nice and its easy on the eyes ;)
-
Darn nice bow there, Thad! I almost missed this one, glad I checked in
Scott
-
One sweet looking bow Soy 8)
-
Stringman and country ... thank you for the kind words :)
-
I don't know why you want to put string silencers on it, it sure as heck don't need em for sound reduction ! That bow is as quiet and dead in the hand as any that I've ever shot. Josh
-
That's just the caramel talking
-
Nice bow! Man, you nailed it! Perfect tiller and nice finish work.
-
Thanks ;D
-
Great looking bow. tiller looks great and the only thing I see wrong is that the arrow rest is on the wrong side ;D
-
I hear you keenan but South paws need Bows to >:D
-
i know a south paw that learned to shoot right handed. I made her a right handed bow at her request.
-
That sure is a beauty!Finish work looks awesome!I think walnut is a great bow wood-Hammertime
-
ionicmuffin...that is quite a feet just watch that they are not cross drawing to their dominant eye ;)
Hammertime...thanks, and i agree i enjoy walnut as well, still trying to figure it out but it is great looking wood ;D
-
Well, after a few hundred shots right before presentation to the new owner I notice on the lower limb... A single chrystal a touch less than 1 quarter of an inch long and so continues the slump... the cause would appear to be that I've rounded the corners a little too much causing the belly be slightly rounded >:( ... well on to the next ;)
-
What a good looking bow! Ah as pretty as it is I wouldn't toss it just yet. Walnut has always been my favorite wood to work, though I've never made a bow out of it. One day, I'm going to have to try it.
-
No it's not dead yet it hasn't showed any more signs of fatigue aside from the 1 mark However I intend to put belly lams on it ... still shoots wonderfully ;)
-
Great job Soy. Really nice job on every aspect of the bow. ;) Fine workmanship!
