Heres one I just finished up this morn with a hemp handle wrap. 57" osage selfbow,60's@27",16.9 ounces, slight bend in the handle. My good friend Marty Tarrant(old timber bows) gave me a 3" wide stave last year some time that i split into two and ill get two bows out of(second one will be done who knows when). I kept this one pure and simple,no knock overlays and just simple pin nocks, and no fancy adorenment with a simple handle. My 11 month year old baby girl just had to be in the pics, and i had to take pics inside as its been raining non stop here since fri eve and frankenstorm hasnt even hit yet and is gonna rain all week. and i hate waiting to show a bow off even tho id rather take better pics of this beuaty to show her off better, cus its hard taking good indoor pics due to poor lighting(sorry)

sweet bow from potential firewood! spot on tiller as usual.
-
Very cool. Love the way grain swirls around a knot like water around a rock in a stream. Great tiller!
-
I dont know how you saw a bow in that peice of wood, but you managed to make one out of it. Great job.
Did you use a nail knot for the handle wrapping?
-
WOW! :o i LOVE it! you did an excellent job!
-
BlueGrouse, that is one fantastic stick yah got there.
Kudos bud!
She looks smooth.
-
I love it.
I handed Blackhawk a piece of wood to throw on the fire at the Classic this year and the next thing I know he was flinging arrows from it. He's an animal.
-

-
Sweet bow love the character in it.

Oooooo..That did turn out nice. I'll take it if you dont want it.................Im talking about the bow by the way...not the baby girl....
-
Looks pretty darn sweet....very nice tiller. Baby girl is a cutie.
-
Always amazes me when I see bows like this with holes in them, plus now you have a place to hang it buy LOL!
-
Fin bow and great tiller. Your littlun stole the show though
-

-

Oh yeah I would have burned a stave like that, beyond my skill and patience level. Matter of fact I just cleaned my shop a few days ago
and stocked the woodshed with firewood from staves that frightened me, took the chainsaw to them so I wouldn't do anything foolish like try to make bows of em'. ;). Guess I should have sent them to you. :)
Good job coaxing a bow out of that one, like its funky character and smooth tiller.

Thanks paul...no potential btu's in this one
Thanks Shaun..I couldn't agree more about the grain
Thanks dictionary...I saw the bow you see now before I started it;)..and when I do hemp wrap handles I just tack it down with superglue to start, then wrap around n round till I get to where the arrow rest wood go,then do multiple wraps there to build up a bulge for hand placement and it serves as an arrow rest too.
Thanks to ionicmuffin, pinenut,Clint, bubby, trapper rob, pearly, beetlebailey, starfire, dwarfish, del for the kind feedback :)
Thanks Steve...shoot me an offer
Thanks Greg...too bad ya just copped up all your "primo " wood..lol. you might be looking back regretting it someday when you get sick of boring straight clean wood ;)
-
YEEEAAA a stick with a hole in it.You did'nt waste much time getting this one done.Smooth bends.Almost twice the draw length to bow length.A picture of what can be done.Congrats.
-
Looks like you have a good little helper there!
-
Nice!! 8) That little one is growin up fast!
-
Great job on a very difficult stave. Tiller looks real good and love all the character. Congratulations
-
Sweet. :)
-
Great job on the tiller, especially considering the knot and all the whoopty doos on those limbs.
-
Nice.
I have a great fondness for character bows. No need to have things all straight and lined up.
Symmetry is overrated!
-
You nailed the tiller on that squirrely piece of wood. Very simple and beautiful. I love that basic native style. I just sent my cousin in Pennsylvania an osage bow, I wonder If they are getting pelted with rain too. You do nice work brother.
-
wonderful bow you made here blackhawk, love the wiggles and the 'eye'!
Great fd-pic (the second!)
simson

-
My kinda rig ;) you da man!
-

Pappy
-
Thanks guys ;)
-
Very nice Chris. I really like this one.
-
Nicely done Chris! I noticed that you have the section with the hole working. I see quite a few bows that have been left stiff through a section like that. I'm glad to see that you ain't scared of a little character! Which is a good thing, cause it looks like your baby girl might be quite the character herself! Josh
-
Very nice bro you are a artist I love it it looks great good job bro I see my little girl is geting big I love it cant wait untill we get to spend some time in my bow shop cracking out some wood for the weekend lol. You do great work keep on making dust take care and God bless brother in christ good job. Old Timber Bows.
-
Thanks Jon..thanks josh..yeah she's a hoot alright..already stubborn,bigheaded,and opinionated just like her ole man ;)
Thanks Marty my brother..and thanks for the great stave ;)
-
Thats a dandy, I kept scrolling between the unbraced, braced, and full draw pic and it looks like you gave each inch of limb its due. I really like how you didnt try to make both limbs match and just treat each one as an individual.
-
Thanks Bob....wood y'all believe me if I told you this one was tillered without any aids( tiller trees, sticks, reflections, camera) untill I hit full draw and wanted to see it and bam it looked good?
-
Showoff! ;) But seriously, you did a fantastic job on that one. Love everything about it. And i'm with sharpend... symmetry IS overrated >:D Thanks for sharing Chris.
-
Another hole in the limb . That one looks to cool. You the man.
-
That is a super sweet bow Blackhawk. Great job!
-
Thanks Jon..thanks josh..yeah she's a hoot alright..already stubborn,bigheaded,and opinionated just like her ole man ;)
Wait till she starts talking. You are not gonna believe the things little opinionated girls say!
Oh, and nice bow ;)
-
Thanks Kevin, yeah but it sure is easier to tiller symmetrical shaped side profile limbs ;)
Thanks bob...thanks Steve :)
Thanks cmb, I know...she already runs the show at our house and thee whole world revolves around her

Nice bow and tricky character. I'm working on a osage stave myself. 67" choctaw bow. :-)
