I'm going to start making my first hickory selfbow. It will be 68" long but I can change that if needed. Could someone give me guidance on dims. including handle length, width and thicknes, limb width & thickness throughout entire length, fade out length and thickness. I would like to end up with a 55-60# bow. I'm not really that handy so the more specific the better.

68 should be fine for Hickory, I would lay out a 4 1/2 inch handle 1 1/2 fads. 1 5/8 to 1 3/4 at the fad and straight tapper to 1/2 at the tip to start off. About 5/8 limb thickness to start with full length. That should get you the weight you want and tiller pretty simple on a pyramid design, try and keep the limb thickness fairly equal as you tiller. Also Jawges site has some good info on lay out and tillering,Check that out. :) That should get you started. Be sure Hickory is dry and keep in a dry place when you ant working on it. :)
