Title: Brazillian Agate and Cholla knife
Post by: Josh on September 17, 2012, 10:17:13 pm
My buddy knapped the blade it's Brazilian Agate.  I hafted it with pine pitch and deer sinew.  I also made the stand.  Thanks for looking!  :)

Did ya do the cholla too?
Id be interested in knowing how it's done. By it's self it is brittle and hollow to boot....

Ive been thinking about trying to use some as handle, there is so much right outside my front door. So much...

Thanks guys!
Sharp, I only use the pieces that are really dense and I also drill out the center and replace it with an oak dowel to add strength.  After I sand off the grey I like to put on a coat of super glue and let it soak in real good too as it seems to make it harder. Try it out you might be surprised.  :) :)

thank you jackcrafty!

Mcginnis, it is a cactus that grows in the southwest. when it dies and dries out this is what is left.  I got a box of it on Ebay pretty cheap and this is the best use I have found for it so far.  Alot of people sell it as fish aquarium decoration or chinchilla chew toys I believe.
