My buddy knapped the blade it's Brazilian Agate. I hafted it with pine pitch and deer sinew. I also made the stand. Thanks for looking! :)

Did ya do the cholla too?
Id be interested in knowing how it's done. By it's self it is brittle and hollow to boot....
Ive been thinking about trying to use some as handle, there is so much right outside my front door. So much...

Thanks guys!
Sharp, I only use the pieces that are really dense and I also drill out the center and replace it with an oak dowel to add strength. After I sand off the grey I like to put on a coat of super glue and let it soak in real good too as it seems to make it harder. Try it out you might be surprised. :) :)

I think I will try it out.
Thanks
Great work

Very cool! ive never seen cholla before. Is it a tree or some kind of woody plant?
-
thank you jackcrafty!
Mcginnis, it is a cactus that grows in the southwest. when it dies and dries out this is what is left. I got a box of it on Ebay pretty cheap and this is the best use I have found for it so far. Alot of people sell it as fish aquarium decoration or chinchilla chew toys I believe.
-
oh ok lol. no wonder i havent seen it before we dont have cactus here in virginia last i checked lol.
-
LOL yeah we don't have it here in Alabama either :)
-
where do you get your cholla from i like the way it looks i may try it for a new knife i have in mind. altho ive still gotta finish a knife that i been meaning to finish for about a month now. been busy with moving and helping the in-law move too.
-
I have traded for it here before but I got my last batch off ebay. :)
