been playing with a piece of brigalow that i cut last sept.
it ended up being 61 1/2" NTN and 65#@27"
i been shooting it and it has survived almost 100 shots. just got to make it a rawhide string and get some of these bamboo shafts i cut turned into tuned arrows.

i finished it with duck fat. we had roast duck a couple of weeks ago and we saved the fat. i just rubbed it in. "and the water still beads"
-
Beautiful bow, that is some beautiful wood!
-
Water beads? Like say...water off a duck's fat?
I don't have a clue what brigalow is, but it makes some pretty looking grain. That's a pretty good looking bow, buddy. Attaboy!
-
brigalow is a native australian tree. Acacia harpophylla. it's pretty dense stuff.
-
Well I guess that answers the question of whether or not duck grease makes a good finish. Nice job. Congrats! What's next?
-
Acacia harpophylla wonder if it grow in a garden here in the states???
Very nice work Clint :)

-
Great first Clint. Very nice grain in that wood.
-
Great job, I like the tiller shape. Next one I would make the fades a bit more gradual.
