I have not had much time or material to knapp this summer, yet I found a rock that I thought had a lot of fractures in it and was able to make this large point. I am going to haft it and give it to one of my friends who lost two sisters these last few months. He has asked for a spear ever since we met. I think this is mozarkite???( ID needed) it had alot of white chalky cortex, slowly changing into this purple blue center. It was rather hard to knap raw and it shelved and stacked a lot, but I was able to knock this out! not perfect but everything came together at the end.

I don't know what the material is but it has a lot of color! Sweet point. I think he's going to love it.

You handled it well!! I had a guy drop off a bunch of that stuff for me to play with, but it was all fractured throughout. Had to throw away about 4 buckets of the stuff. Wish mine woulda been as nice as what you got there. Nice points!

Yeah I actually picked up some today but it was really bad I did get a peice of stuff that is very chalky and was able to get a nice size point out of it..

Nice looking points, ought to make some good looking spears. Would heat treating help the rock any?

Wow....your points are really beautiful ;) I am sure your friend will love them :)

Thnk you. Mullet I am wondering the same thing. my last go with heat treating was not cool. I lost all the rock :'( :'(
