I need to post this bow. I have been shooting it daily for about a month now. It is 65" ntn. Pulls 57# at 28". The upper limb is ~1 1/4" longer than the lower limb. The picks are from prior to finishing, for which I used a vinegar steel wool stain, followed by shellac, tung oil, beeswax, and linseed oil. I will add picks of the stained grain soon. This is the best shooter I have made to date. It is super smooth and hits hard. I just put a 12 strand fast flight string on and wow that makes a difference! (thanks for the string Weylin!) The tip overlays are big-horn sheep. The first tip overlays I have ever done. Unless I make a better bow between now and September, this will be my elk hunting bow.
WARNING! this first pic is overly sexy.

I had to cover up that naked handle...it was just too much

I sinew wrapped a triple pin knot about midlimb. Just a piece of mind thing. Did the lower limb for visual balance.

Full draw pic. I cant help but cant the bow a bit. Makes the upper limb look weak. BTW, those are 32" arrows, so it is pretty close to 28 in the pic.

Dirty details: I narrowed the pinch at handle/lower limb a bit early in the process, the bow was still heavy and it caused some localized "set". It basically deflexed the lower limb a 1/2". It was not by design, but I feel this kept the working portions of the limb from taking much set.
Thanks for checking it out!

Very nice looking bow and those nocks look awesome. You gotta love some osage.
-
Man that is a beauty. Great work. Now where did I leave those sheep ...
-
Very nice, and simple. I like it.
-
Love those tips, very cool.
-
Nice job, CMB! It was a shame to cover up that handle, but it turned out nice. And those tips are :P !
-
Love the tips! Well done :)
-
That is a cool bow mister. It is pretty no-frills (that's the way I like them) , but very graceful. I like the tips a lot. Good luck with it this fall. I want to see pics with it lying next to a deer.
-
Super bow and those tips are awesome!!!
-
Looks like a keeper to me! Well done
Tracy

Sweet looking bow, and gotta give you major kudos on the tips!
-
That is a beauty. And those tips really set it off. Thanks for sharinmg. Dean
-
Sweet!
Good looking bow and the overlays is just the icing :)
I just wonder..the marking on the horn continues on to the wood is it by design?

Superb! I agree those tips are fine. Very nice.

That's a sweet bow, love the nocks!

Thanks everyone for the accolades! It really means a lot to me coming from this group, thinking of all the amazing bows produced from the names above. I would not be making bows like this, if it was not for this community. I also recommend Hunting the Osage bow by Dean Torges, it is written by a true craftsman. I am glad you all liked the tips! I had fun with those and really like horn for overlay material.
Soy, Thanks!
Del, thanks, your tip work is like the gold standard!
straightarrow, thanks, I have admired your finish work, and have been thinking about working some feathers into my bows too, after seeing some of your bows on here.
briarjumper, Coaster, Eric, beetle, coaster, Steve, glad you all liked the tips!
Thanks Tracy, I will definitely be hanging on to her for awhile.
Thanks Will, your Honey Hole bow still jumps to the front when I think of most amazing bow.
Pearl, thanks! I am looking forward to reflexing some osage next. I like the look of speed in your bows!
Okie64, Osage is real nice. Possibly my favorite right now.
lesken, thanks, I like how the rawhide handle wrap turned out, but I am still waiting to see how it holds up once the weather here turns wet, which it tends to do from time to time here in Oregon.
jimmy, hunting gods willing, I would like to have a big bull elk in frame with this bow.
dbb, I tried to blend the shape of tips into the wood a bit. My dull chainsaw file was the perfect tool for the job :D. I like how it turned out.
Dean, thanks for the stave! I haven't seen a lot of osage, but I have a feeling I got spoiled here  Can't wait to see what you do with that yew.

The lower limb tip reminded me of a snake rattle, and could easily be shaped to really look like a rattle. I want to someday do some sheep horn tips to look like rattles with rattler skins, like Gun Doc's Prairie Rattler trade bow.

I dont know about you other guys, but this bow starts a covetous feeling....My pressssiousss... >:D

Nothing better for hunting than a plain osage selfbow in my opinion, especially in your environment. I hope you got the gold fever now 8)...and I won't mention the T word cus its already been said a thousand times in this thread..lol
-
Love the tips like everyone else but the whole bow is a thing of beauty.

Looks awesome!
-
i wish there were sheep in alabama..... dang it! I have tip envy!
-
Very nice bow indeed and I too have to mention the tips, I think probably more than likely for sure no doubt about it the nicest tips I have possibly ever seen, and I mean that. If that bow was in my collection I have no doubt it would be a serious contender for favorite.
Very nice work CMB.

Very nice bow! Great job!

dbb, ask my wife about the covetous feeling this bow conjures up in me...She is ready to throw it out the door. ;D ;D ;D She insists bows are just tools (she shoots a vintage 50# Bear super mag...a mighty fine tool), but I am beginning to think each wood bow has a spirit all its own. And some of those bows speak to you...saying, "string me, shoot me, polish me, take me with you, make me some proper arrows, don't ever let anyone mistreat me, and..well, I don't need to tell this crowd what those bows are saying. ;)
Thanks blackhawk, like coaster says, I want to be like blackhawk when I grow up! ;)
Thanks Lane, HR, uncleduck.
Greg, that is quite the compliment. Thank you, but no matter what you say, you are not getting this bow into your collection, because I am kind of attached to my preccioussss. >:D
George, thanks. This stave was so clean..well, you wouldn't understand. ;D

Beautiful bow, finish work is sweet and tiller to boot.Nice job. :)

-
Wow! I love this bow! Tips to handle wrap and back! Well done sir! Josh
-
Like others have said, those tips are pretty cool!Nice work!Hammertime
-
Thanks Pappy, Josh, and Hammertime. I just took this bow to the Pope & Young bow shoot in Brownsville, Or this weekend. I had a great time with it, though it was tough to reach the clout with my 10 grn/# hunting arrows, and tall four fletch. I was pretty happy to outshoot my old man and his glass recurve on the 3D course though! ;D Also got to fondle a 1937 Chet Stevenson osage static recurve 8) I will post pics of that in another post. ;)
-
I can't believe I missed this one! That is one sexy arce bow!
Mmmm she's a dirty girl ha!
Very nice work man! I love it!
-
How did I miss this!? I've seen and handled this bow in person and it's as cool as it looks. I may well model my first osage bow after this. Nice work, buddy. 8)
-
All I have to say is wow! I'll say it though it's been said so much; those tips are awesome! My wife and your wife should get together by the way. Mine's ready to throw half my bows out. Thinks I spend to much time with them or something... ;D
-
Nice work! I really like the tips. Love the handle. Nice tiller. Nice BOW!
-
Wow Carson that came out great! Love those tips!
-
The bow itself is awesome decorations aside. Those sheep horn nocks are really beautiful but what impresses me is not so much the material but the way you blended them into the wood slightly by putting the ridges in the wood on the sides of the overlay. Just awesome attention to detail. You are a true craftsman. Good job!
-
Got to see this beauty in action at the Pope & Young this past weekend and it is a real shooter! Love the finish and of course the overall design. Great job! The elk should be very worried!
-
Thanks Bryce, she definitely is a bit naughty ;). Thanks Weylin, I am looking forward to seeing your first osage bow, you are going to love that yella stuff. Oscar, thanks, and it sounds like our wives would get along famously. My wife didn't think it was funny when one night, were getting ready to lay down, only to find this bow already tucked in in the middle of the bed ;D. Thanks arrowind, Keenan, and Ryoon for the very nice words. Thanks snag, it was fun shooting and jawing with you at the shoot, have you posted that beautiful osage bow of yours yet? I have never seen a ring chased as cleanly as on that bow of yours Dave.
