Well it's same as done. Sinew backed Osage five-curve with pyramid limbs and semi-static non contact recurves. 54" ntn, 60#@26" draws nice with no stack. The handle starts bending at about the same time the recurves open up a bit at about 23". The tips are hackberry, the skins are prairie Rattler covering 3 layers of Gus's fine Sinew. Thanks Gus! Simple b-50 14 strand Flemish string. The handle wrap is Bison hide with scraps (belly scales) from the Rattler skins sewn on for piping . A few more arrows and a few more coats of tru-oil and I'll ship her out to her new home. Which will be a couple weeks before I get around to doing. I hope xxxxxxxxxxx is patient! Thanks for looking , Josh

Some Lucky So and So will be Mighty Pleased to unwrap that Beauty, I have no doubt!

five "WOWS", one for each curve! just sweet. Awesome!
-
awsome little bow!! do you have my adress? >:D
-
A question, Josh. Did the limbs start out straight and the curves were the result of set that was a planned eventual product of the short bow length? No matter how I tried to word that is didn't sound right. I hope you know what I mean. ???
-
Awesome.
-
Nice lines n curves there Josh :)
-
Ooh, Ooh, that one is for me I just know it! It looks like it wants to be shot left handed. ;D I've got a busy summer so I wont be able to shoot it until late July so take your time. ;) That is a seriously awesome looking bow, I'll be stoked when I come home to it.
-

That's a great question! I'm glad you asked. It just so happens that Rich (halfeye) and I had this very conversation not long ago. It is Rich's expert opinion that the original gullwings are just that, a result of set. After taking into account the very short lengths of the originals, that is not only possible, but highly probable if not inevitable. This one is considerably longer than the originals to avoid the set. But to get the profile I wanted, I heated in the bends. I actually heated in more than I really wanted, but it still shoots dang good so no worries. The next one will have more reflex. Thanks for the kind words everyone! Josh

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Some of you may have noticed that I don't usually go all out on the fancy stuff. My bows are usually pretty plain and utilitarian. This time though, I took into account the fine bow I received and the fine bows the rest of you are putting up and decided to step it up as Matt said. I still like my simple bows, but this was a nice change of pace for me. My finish work still leaves alot to be desired, but I am trying to be more patient with the details. Speaking of which, hammertime, that gullwing you made was sweet! I would've been stalking the mailman on that one if I hadn't already received my trade bow. I really did get out of my comfort zone on this build, so I hope the recipient will take that into consideration when they are evaluating it. Who knows that said recipient might be one of you that commented on it. ;) I'm not saying, I'm just saying. >:D (shamelessly plegerized from PatB) BTW Pat, I went and picked up some more old hedge posts. well seasoned of course, but soaking wet. They should be dry and ready to work by next years Classic. If I get to go again, I'll throw a couple in for ya. Thanks again everybody, Josh
-
Im sorry, I would be far too hesitant to give something like that up. It's beautiful. Incredible craftsmanship.

Gonna be a lot of disappointed whiners on Wednesday the 11th. The biggest will be me because I made the choice to not participate in this exchange. Ya can't expect to win when you don't play.

wow it is a great looking bow for sure.
-
My condolences to those who were camping out on their porches waiting for this bow... :'( It's MINE!! >:D and it's even more amazing in person, the pictures don't do it justice. I literally just walked in the door from spending a month in Baltimore and the the very first thing I did was rip open the tube and pull out this bow. I'm blown away by the craftsmanship. Josh, you really out did yourself. Thank you so much for making this work of art for me. This bow fills so many empty niches in my collection. This is my first osage bow, my first sinew backed bow, it's a good foot shorter than my other bows, it's my first curvy bow, and it's my first bow with snake skins. I have nothing to do tomorrow except for shoot until my arm falls off. Unfortunately I wont have a camera until Tuesday so you will all have to wait for pictures for a few days. Thanks again! I'm grinning ear to ear. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I'm very happy that you not only returned home safely, but also that you enjoyed the welcome home gift. Thank you for the kind words and I sincerely hope the bow serves you well for many years to come. Josh
-
Lefty or Righty it doesnt get much better than this bow. I fell in love with it since the first time I saw it on the trade.

-
Here are some pictures of me with my new, sweet bow. Congrats on BOM, Josh. You definitely got my vote! ;D Oh, and I got out shooting yesterday and let me tell you this bow is a screamer. >:D
