Title: "Buffalo River" biface
Post by: Will H on June 05, 2012, 10:55:21 pm
I picked up this nice piece of Buffalo River this weekend. It was just laying there staring at me :o ...begging to be worked  ::)  At first glance I noticed it kinda resembled a face of an owl..Shannon said it was a peace sign...either way it was the "Prize Egg" for that first creek.  :)  I just couldnt wait to knock into it and work it raw but did go ahead and decide to put it in the oven with the HC after it was thinned down. I thought Id share a couple pics with you guys. Enjoy!  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks you guys! We did luck up on some purty rock ;) It didn't come easy though let me tell ya.. We spent the whole day checkin tons of different creeks in a BIG area and only 2 were productive with high grade material.

Bob- that is some Dover :) I only found one or two pieces...one of which came from a road cut that had alot but was mostly fractured :( the piece in the pic came from the same creek as the high grade Buffalo

Roger- thanks bud! I think I'm gonna try for a big Lost Lake  :o

Nice material !  I picked up what I thought might be buffalo river over by Henderson Tn.  But it is nowhere near the quality of that piece.  Pretty grainy and tough.  I had to use a 16 oz. Ball peen to spawl it.  Its all buried under my burn pile now under 3" of sand.  Hope the heat helps or I carried a hundred pounds of worthless rock around for two weeks for nothin.  Good haul,  Josh
