Title: 1 Hickory Log, 2 Bows

An older friend at my gun club, Don, gave me a hickory log and I helped him lay out a bow on another to work on himself. I appreciated the gesture but the log he gave me looked mighty scary (multiple knots > 8 inches).  I was not hopeful that I would get anything out of it so unfortunately didn't even take a before pic. However I ended up getting two bows out of it, one for me and one I gave to him. It felt really good to give away my first bow. Here are some pics!

Very nice hickory sticks. Those kind of bows are always my favorites. Did you heat up the handle to give it that look?

thanks okie!  Yep fun with the heat gun.  I actually corrected string alignment with the one in the handle, which is one reason it is dark.

Ya, I made this one really quickly as I was in some weird state of disbelief that it worked out.  Tiller on the other one is better but I didn't get a shot before I gave it away.  Was fun though and tried some new things.  I have high expectations for my next effort.  Not sayin what it is yet though.  ;)

Besides the bend they came out well,and more importantly and in the bigger scheme of things is the gesture...good for you buddy ;)     now make another ;)..hey you still got that one with the females gender looking knot...i want that one if u dont  ;D

Id figure you wood rather have me be honest with you than a fake "good jobs" you see so many times

Guess I better not say good job, ;) ;D  does look nice and love the finish work and the darkened handle area,what others have said about the fads. :)

Bummer...i coulda really made that look sick on a bow limb...literally  :laugh:
