Title: Newest member of the family! silk backed pecan
Post by: jermcramp1 on April 24, 2012, 10:59:52 pm
72"ttt, 70" ntn, 47@28",(I love 30-50# bows, so much fun to shoot) pecan with walnut handle and tips silk back. The top limb has a stringer nock. b50 flemish twist, and soon to be added squirrel tail silencers.

Bottom is tad stiffer?

I thought the handle was too pretty to put a wrap or rest on.

and I really like the dark brown silk against the white wood, it almost matches the walnut...

Awesome man. I like the look of pecan and have like 30 of them down the street from me.

The string's a little too bright for me though.  :P

You dont look so enthusiastic to have your pic taken .....finish looks nice, and yes your bottom limb is a wee hair stiff, but not by much,or anything to be too concerned about.

Nice job, Sir. Great color combo in the handle and the brown matching thread is a nice touch!!

It was a symetrical bulbous handle, but it didn't feel right so I shaped it to my hand.

Thank for the comments!

Great work!  My first shooter that held together was a pecan sapling bow and, in spite of all the newbie errors in tillering, it is still flinging arrows after thousands of shots.  Pecan is great bow wood and I am willing to bet that you have built one that will stand the test of time.
