From the book "Hunters of Prehistory" It states in the chapter titled First Artist, "...we are already in the presence of what one calls functional esthetics, that is, the search in the manufacture of tools for the most beautiful and efficient forms".
This was a time at the beginning of the Wurm Glaciation. Kinda cool that what looks best, works best.
