Title: keepin it simple
Post by: Stringman on April 10, 2012, 02:42:28 pm
I've been working on this piece of osage for most of the winter. When i got it close I took it up to Iowa for a new pair of eyes and only made a few slight tiller corrections. After shooting it in, I was trying to decide to leave it alone or keep messin with it. So I compromised... I flipped the tips and then quit. Ended up with a real smooth draw and a very elegant profile.

In the begining, I only made one minor heat correction on one limb tip, then later the recurves were added. The rest of the "5 bend" look is natural. If this bow wasn't already committed to someone in Washington I would have added skins and overlays and really dressed it up. But he wanted the plain look. And so it is...

Ended up 68" ttt and pulls a sweet 50# @ 28". This stave was well seasoned so it has taken almost no set. A true pleasure to work!

I agree with the person you made it for. A beautiful lady doesn't need fancy clothes to look good.

yeah, that aint nothin special, but Im excited to see how that little trade turns out. It should be awesome to see those three sister staves turned into shooters. I can't wait to see what the final looks like. Have you opened yours up yet?

My BBB sister gave me a whompin' good splinter thru the palm the other day.  Guess she doesn't like being ignored.

I like the way that bow turned out.  And you are right about how elegant it looks, mighty fine stylings, my Burlington Bowyer Brother.
