Title: round bellied recurve?

At the same time I'm finishing up my monstrosity bow I'm watching "Beauty and the Beast" with my 4 year old and Gaston carries this recurve that looks like a round bellied bow.  My bow is round bellied and it worked out pretty well.  I'm wondering if a round bellied recurve is a good idea or not?  I'm tempted to try it.  I kinda like the looks of it and concept.
