Title: When to sand sinew
Post by: petew on March 20, 2012, 11:34:24 am
I sinewed a little bow that was pitiful light weight a couple weeks ago. How long before I can clean it up and make the back smooth?

Where do you live?  What has the weather been like the last few weeks? What type of glue did you use? Was the bow in a dry room or a damp basement shop?

I am near Edmonton Alberta. It has been mild and some melting, but not very much humidity. Still lots of snow. I used Hide glue, and hung the bow in the spare room 4 feet above the furnace register.

A couple of weeks should be sufficient.

As long as it feels hard with no spring to it you should be fine.
