Had a real nice fellow e-mail me about a month ago and wanted to have a couple of Osage bows for him and his son. So we made a trade and this is the second bow. It is 59" long. It runs about 1-1/2" wide to mid limb then tapers down to 7/16" wide knocks. Deer horn overlays. The snake skins I think are copper heads but it may be some kind of water snake. I really don't know for sure. I did lay a strip of silk before I applied the skins. It sure is a nice little bow and I hope he is happy on our trade. It is a strong 49# at 28". He wanted it close to 47 so I am hoping it will drop a couple after putting more arrows threw it. Dean

Very nice little bow, Dean.
Wolfpup, I imagine the snake skin was added over the silk backing for decoration.

I can't tell you for sure what kind of silk it is. I bought several yards off of the big auction sight a few years ago and that is what I use. It is real thin but real strong. A great backing. I use titebond lll and just put a nice even layer of glue on and lay the silk down. You got to watch it though or it will wrinkle up on you when the glue starts to dry. I just keep it tight where the wrinkles are showing until it is fairly dry. Here is a pic of the silk I use.
