Had a couple of fence builders call me today and said they just got done cutting a bunch of Hedge. "Osage" is what we call it. Picked out 7 good logs so far. They said they were going after another bunch for me to look at this afternoon. These are real good logs but they know how to charge me for them also. I will give a premium if they let me have first chance at them though. I used a quart of Shellac sealing these 4 logs and the cut offs. You can see they really tear them up dragging them out of the woods. Have you ever seen Shellac turn this dark before? Dean

Here is the picture of the Shellac.

Looks like some good straight pieces. Lots of staves in there. I see osage posts advertised on CL for not much at all.

Ay, the bark ain't peeling off very easy , is it yet? I figured I'd ask as it's been so warm, like 80 or so here outside of cincinnati where I'm at...

I can't tell you for sure if the bark will peel easy. I will sprsy these down and split them in half and leave them in the barn for 6 months. I have less checking on mine if I leave the bark on a few months.

Those are some nice logs.

I think all of us who live outside osage growing country are green with envy.
By the way, did the cutters charge much?
-
Very nice! Jawge

The cutters a charging me 40.00 dollars a piece for the good logs. That is not bad if I can salvage much out of them. It seems like in the past I end up with about 20% waist to different things. Bugs, drying cracks ect.

Yes Sir!
Those are some Nice looking yellow Logs.
Heck That sounds like good deal to me!
