Just finished up a maple backed cherry bow I've been working on for a while. Its 62" ntn, 1.5" wide. It pulls 50lbs at 24" but I draw it to 28", so I'm guessing its around 55-60lbs at my full draw. I really need to get a scale that goes above 50lbs. It's got a tung oil finish on it and I plan on adding a few more coats before its completely done. It was inspired by a bow done by Matt S, and a big thanks goes out to him for helping me out getting started. Pics aren't great but they were the best I could do with my cheap camera and poor lighting. Any constructive criticism is welcomed. It took about an inch and a half of set, which I am okay with. I havn't shot an arrow out of it yet, but it feels pretty sweet to draw.

Nice clean work on those tips and backer glue lines. Thats the key to longevity in hard backed bows after the tiller is cool.

Very clean looking work!!
Great job :)

Next time I'll remember to glue it up with a reflex. The set wasn't bad on this bow but I bet I could have cut it in half by putting the bow in reflex. I think I'll be adding recurves to my future projects as well.

Always thought that a maple backed cherry would work great. maple being lower in sg then hickory or bamboo not overpowering the belly. sweet work on that one.

Looking at it now I almost wish I had added a little something more to the riser, a strip of maple or black walnut. Seems like it needs an accent of some sort. Maybe I'll add on some sort of arrow rest or handle wrap.

Nice bow! for us on the east coast, that maple backed cherry is the perfect mock-a-yew! no need to be jealous of the westcoasters wood supply anymore.
Looks smooth and quick!

It sure feels like its gonna be a quick bow. I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can go out and shoot it some.
