i cut some privet about a year ago and thought i would try it . only bow ive heard of out of privet was in the bowyers bible. heres one i finished tonight sorry bout the after dark pics but i wont be around tomorrow. 56 inches on the grooves 59 lbs at 28 inches . couple kinks that kept me guessing on the tiller and its not perfect but it shoots. first try with this is impressive

looks good to me...always love your D bow bends ;)....wood you try privet again?

heck yeah and i have a thicket of it cross the creek , so no lower limbs

Looks good......I have been one the look for some of that chinese privet, just have not found any straight enough yet. I like those bendy handles.

Looks pretty slender. What's the width & thickness?
-
I can DIG that bow Ken! That thing is sweet. Dont ask me why but it catches my eye more than any of the other 107 before it.

Great lookin bow. That tiller looks pretty dead on to me. What kinda finish you got on it that stinks so bad? My wife hates the smell of tru oil, I love it.

Certainly not a wood that you see posted everyday that's for sure. Glad it worked out for ya. 8)
Nice job on that bow.

Another cool bow with perfect tiller Ken, and from an invasive species. What more could you ask for? Now we know that every bowyer in the South East US has good bow wood readily available.

thanks guys ,
really surprised by this one its not as hard as crepe myrtle but at 65 sg its a tough lil stick , and since it makes the middle 50s bows i love it .
-
Very neat Ken. I have built many arrows from privet, and have considered it as a bow wood try,but never found any decent trees.Did you heat treat this bow? Just wondering. God bless
-
what size diameter tree did you use ken?
