Title: 50" Maple flatbow 55#@28"
Post by: Peacebow_Coos on February 09, 2012, 09:51:57 pm
This was my summer shooting bow, had a split from a 7-8" diameter maple, either bigleaf or silver, and just took it down almost to the edges of the radius. (http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i479/PeacebowCoos/DSCF8595.jpg) (http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i479/PeacebowCoos/DSCF8598.jpg)It was about where I wanted it, but I got anxious to shoot it and strung it too early, left the tips a bit wide, and didn't quite perfect the tiller.  (http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i479/PeacebowCoos/DSCF8597.jpg)It's chrysaling now mid limb on the bottom where there is too much bend, but now I know it will make a heavier shortbow.  (http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i479/PeacebowCoos/DSCF8596.jpg)This bow is 2 1/4 inches wide, with tips just under 3/4".  The whole thing ends up about 3/8 when you eyeball it from the side.  50" long.  The fades come right off the handle, then it tapers out to 2 1/4 from there about 4-5" which I think accounts for the extreme mid limb bend.  Pulling 55@22. (http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i479/PeacebowCoos/DSCF8599.jpg) It's still a shooter, but a bit sluggish and I know what to do next time!  Thanks for lookin fellows.  Sorry about the bad back ground...I'm not too photo savvy but I'm workin on it :)
