Title: Sinew Sanding
Post by: WolfPupTee on January 25, 2012, 12:36:36 pm
I keep seeing people saying that they sanded down their sinew backed bows before putting rawhide or snakeskins on them. So that doesn't hurt the strength of the sinew backing at all does it? Explain it to me please.

You can sand it,I always sand in one direction and just enough to smooth the humps or high spots out. No , it won't hurt if if you don't get carried away. :)

Sanding the sinew before backing is OK.  Sanding sinew and then not backing it is risky.  Filling in the low spots with layers of glue is safer.
