I had a real run of bad knapping last week. Finally got a point where I could notch it and didn't really want to break it corner notching. So, I tried inboard of the corners and it seemed to work. Have no idea if this is a valid way to notch a point. Kind-a like the way it looks, though those ears look pretty fragile.

Sure nice to actually finish one. Had a bad step in the middle on one side I tried to get out from both sides with no luck. Finally knocked a very long flake off the base that I was really lucky didn't take off the tip. Can see it on the second picture. I had planned to deer hunt this weekend but it fell through. Hope to knock out another point or two tomorrow.

Nice point George. Looks like it will work fine, nothing wrong with notching there either.

Thanks guys. The notches were supposed to be more angled, but I don't seem to have much control when I'm notching it seems. 8) I'm glad it looks like a point. ;D

If it helps any, I slightly angle my pressure into the stem. It helps me angle the notches & puts less pressure on the tang(barb) .

Thumbs up George! Looks good.

Thanks guys. OK Tower, I'll try to do that next time. I haven't been knapping as much lately, for some reason have felt the itch to start another bow. I also need to get a turkey roaster, knock out some more spalls and cook some rock. I've about exhausted my supply.
