Title: introduction
Post by: paulsemp on January 13, 2012, 01:23:19 am
Just signed up for 2012 bow trade and figured it was time to introduce myself. Been lurking here for a few years but bought my first issue in 92. I was so happy to see a primitive only mag. Trad bowhunter was the only thing close at the time. I've never owned a glass backed or compound and never will. I look forward to learning and sharing any info that could help someone. I'm near chicago and wouldn't  mind meeting people in the area.

I started when I was 8 yrs old making green bows with dowels for arrows. I was very into archery for about 14 yrs. I became a metal worker and found myself very into making knives and iron work. Took a break from archery for about 5 yrs. Archery came back into my life and I had no staves laying around so i started making a lot of board bows. Everything from hickory backed hickory to hickory backed wenge. Ive made about 10 sinew backed bows in my time. Just found a guy cutting down a lot of osage and got a few logs that split into 16 staves. So all I need is a couple of years to really get going again.
