Title: Need opinions on osage slat billet bow build
Post by: dismount on January 07, 2012, 08:08:46 pm
Sorry no pics yet, just wondering what anyone thought about chances for survival of a bow I'm making. 2 40'' slats of osage z joined and edge grained for the back and belly. Didn't really want to back bow so I followed snakey grain trying not to violate the edge grain all way up to tips. Just wanting about a 40# bow with a glue on handle. Will get pics if you need 'em  Thanks, Phil

You are going to have a bunch of run-out when you start narrowing about mid limb to the tips, don't know how well this design will hold up.

If it were me I would cut through the snakes and back the bow.
