Title: leather dye question?
Post by: missilemaster on December 17, 2011, 03:53:33 am
I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good source for alcohol based aniline leather dye and the best way to apply it to the back of a bow? It will most likely be going on bamboo. thanks.

You will just have to experiment with a scrap. Depends whether you want dark or light coloration. The alcohol evaporates so the color concentration will determine the shade it comes out. Good coloration for bows and arrows. Unflavored Koolade works too with alcohol.   Either rubbing(isoprophyl) or denatured alcohols work.

I have used Kool-Aid several times, works very well with alcohol. The price is the best part @ 10 cents a pack :)
